National Nurses Week is celebrated every year beginning May 6th and ending May 12th on Florence Nightingale's birthday. Today, the holiday is celebrated nation wide and nurse gifts are given in recognition and celebration of National Nurses Week throughout the United States.

Any gift that identifies and separates a nurse from other employees in scrubs is helpful. Due to "scrub mania" there isn't much that identifies a registered nurse from a student or volunteers. Also, you may want to consider doing something different for your male nurses. Not that they should get any special treatment, just be considerate of their gender and try asking their opinion on gift ideas for male nurses.

"Human error is a fact in healthcare just as in the rest of life, and we all must be educated on what to be watchful of regarding things that might go wrong," said Martin J. Hatlie, Esq., President of Partnership for Patient Safety.

They suffer more than the rest, especially during their training period. Picture this: You work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and receive no pay whatsoever all in the name of accumulating experience and completing your training. You'll be a bit peeved, at the very least.

Picture this: You work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and receive no pay whatsoever all in the name of accumulating experience and completing your training. You'll be a bit peeved, at the very least.

And once you're done with the training, a nursing assistant pay scale isn't exactly appealing. You'll get basic pay when you start out, which means a monthly salary of about $2000, which amounts to $25000 per annum. Pay for your food, bills and student loans and you'll find that it's usually not enough to sustain a living in this modern world.
